Heart Engagement Rings
A heart-shaped diamond is a brilliant cut with two rounded lobes, a cleft at the top and a single point at the bottom. It is the most openly romantic shape, and a well-cut heart sparkles much like a pear. It suits someone who wants their ring to say exactly how they feel.
Symmetry and Size Matter Most
A heart only reads clearly when both halves match. Look for lobes of equal size, a sharp, well-defined cleft and a point that sits straight in the center. A ratio of roughly 0.90 to 1.10 keeps it from looking squat or stretched. Size matters too: in small stones the outline can be hard to make out, especially once prongs cover part of it, so heart engagement rings tend to look their most heart-like at around one carat and up, or with a halo to frame the shape.
How is a heart diamond set?
Usually with three prongs, one on each lobe and a V-prong protecting the point, or with five prongs for extra security. A slim solitaire band keeps the shape front and center, and a matching wedding band completes the set.
Heart engagement rings are made to order in 10K, 14K or 18K yellow, white or rose gold, or in platinum. Each one ships free and insured in the US and includes free resizing, a free ring sizer and a 30-day return policy.
